The company, which has dedicated itself to purpose-built service operation vessels (SOVs) and commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) since 2015, is in talks to sell its entire fleet. This includes not just the seven vessels currently in operation (one SOV and six CSOVs), but also the three additional CSOVs that are still under construction.
But here's where it gets controversial: the potential buyers are North Star, a UK-based company backed by Partners Group, and an affiliate of Navigare Capital Partners. The transaction, if completed, would see the fleet split between these two entities.
According to a stock exchange filing by Wilh Wilhelmsen, the deal is subject to inspections and other standard conditions. However, if successful, it would mark a significant shift for Edda Wind, which was taken private in 2025 by a consortium including John Fredriksen's Geveran Trading, Idan Ofer's EPS Ventures, and Wilhelmsen New Energy.
This potential fleet sale follows a recent acquisition by Danish operator Esvagt, which purchased two SOVs, Breeze Enabler and Brint Enabler, from Edda Wind in December 2022. If the latest deal goes through, it would signal a complete exit from vessel ownership for Edda Wind.
