Animal Crossing New Horizons 3.0 Update! Hotel, New Furniture, and More! (2026)

Surprise! Animal Crossing: New Horizons' 3.0 update has arrived early, bringing a wave of fresh content to your island paradise! If you're anything like me, you might have been greeted with a delightful surprise this morning: the highly anticipated 3.0 update, complete with the grand opening of the Hotel, is now live. Get ready to dive in!

The core of the 3.0 update is the introduction of a hotel, which will be set up on your island, likely at the end of your pier. To get started, make sure you've downloaded the update. (Don't forget to actually download it!) And, I almost missed it, there was a system update this morning as well. If you're a returning player who's already put some time into your island, the hotel should be waiting for you. While we're still figuring out all the specifics, it seems there might be a requirement to unlock the hotel, potentially preventing new players from accessing it immediately.

This hotel functions similarly to the Happy Home Paradise DLC. You'll be tasked with decorating various rooms based on themes provided by Leilani. But here's where it gets exciting: unlike the DLC, the sky's the limit when it comes to what you can put in these rooms! You can use any item you've ever collected, whether through DIY crafting, purchases, gifts, or whatever. The game gives you a list of recommended items if you need help.

Once you've finished decorating a room, it becomes available for guests to stay in. This is a fantastic way to meet villagers you don't currently have living on your island, as they'll visit and share unique dialogue. Plus, you'll earn Hotel Tickets, which you can spend at the souvenir shop to acquire exclusive decor items newly added to the game. These items can then be used to personalize your own home or decorate other areas of your island.

In addition to the hotel, Tom Nook will invite you to use a box outside the hotel where you'll be asked to craft specific DIY items to help promote your island. Completing these requests earns you even more Hotel Tickets to spend on more items. And this is the part most people miss: DIY crafting is now easier than ever thanks to the new bulk crafting and crafting from storage features introduced in the update.

But that's not all! The 3.0 update also brings a host of other exciting additions. You'll find tons of new furniture available in the Souvenir Shop and the Nook Shopping app, including LEGO items and classic game systems that you can use to play games from Nintendo Switch Online within Animal Crossing. Dream Worlds are now active, allowing you to build and decorate up to three Dream Islands, either solo or with friends. And if you're a fan of Zelda or Splatoon, themed amiibo villagers and items are also available by scanning their amiibo.

However, there's a slight catch. While the 3.0 content update is live, the Nintendo Switch 2 paid update feature isn't available until tomorrow. So, the improved graphics, 12-person multiplayer, and the Megaphone item, are not in the game just yet. But don't worry, they're just around the corner!
